Call for Abstracts, Posters and Peer Reviewed Manuscripts

About the Scientific Program

The scientific program will consist of three types of sessions:

  1. Organized Symposia – A series of integrated presentations that address aspects of a single topic or theme, submitted as an organized group of speakers.

  2. Contributed Oral Presentations – Individual oral presentations that are grouped into sessions by conference organizers.

  3. Poster Presentations – 44"x44" printed poster showcased as part of the Poster Session & Reception scheduled for Monday, October 28th from 5:30pm - 7:00pm.

Regular Call for Presentations is Now Open

The Program Committee for the 73rd Annual Conference is seeking presentation proposals. Deadline to submit: May 29.

Track Options:

  • Contributed Oral and Poster presentations will be grouped with similar presentations to form thematic sessions, based on selected disciplines: Law Enforcement, Legal, IT/Licensing, Administration & Business, Marketing, R3 & Communications, Fisheries and Wildlife.
  • Oral presentation authors also have the option of indicating interest in an Organized Symposium, either as an invited speaker, or if you want your talk to be considered for a particular symposium. Organized symposia will be finalized first and added to the general Call for Papers with “Symposia Overviews” posted to the conference website for reference. UPDATE: Six special symposia will be included as part of the technical program at the 2019 SEAFWA Annual Conference. On the Symposia Overview page, those indicated as "INVITE ONLY" will include only speakers invited by organizer to present.

Submission Guidelines:

Abstract submissions for peer-reviewed manuscripts, symposia, general oral presentations, and posters will be collected online only. Abstract submittals must include the title, author name(s) and affiliation(s), and the abstract (limited to 300 words).

Notifications of Acceptance for Oral/Poster Presentations:

Notifications of acceptance for inclusion in the conference program will be sent by the Track Chairs by the end of June, and the schedule will be posted online in early July.

Peer-Reviewed Manuscripts

When the SEAFWA Journal was created in 2013, some new procedures were created relative to publishing of peer-reviewed manuscripts. Peer-reviewed manuscripts will be published in the Journal. Review the manuscript submission guide to authors

Important Notes Related to Manuscripts:

  • Authors submitting peer-reviewed manuscripts for consideration may be expected to also serve as manuscript reviewers.
  • If you submit a manuscript for consideration by the journal, you also need to submit a presentation abstract and present the work at the meeting
  • Manuscripts will need to be uploaded in the online form when submitting the abstract.
  • The deadline to submit a manuscript for peer-review: May 29
  • Notifications of acceptance for publication in the SEAFWA journal will be sent by the journal editors by early August.

Manuscripts and questions regarding abstracts and manuscripts for peer-review should be directed to:
